Painting studio

Still Life by Lyudmila Savelyeva

Painting studio (teens and adults)

This spring, I invite you to join two excellent classes:
– Painting Studio: IN-PERSON
– Weekend Watercolors: ONLINE

In the Painting Studio, we’ll learn about color theory by creating painting projects with various media (you will choose your preferred material). Many people opt to experiment with acrylics.
Acrylic painting is excellent for beginners and professional artists, as acrylic paints provide a vast variety of options to work with and master techniques – or just have fun playing with its vibrant colors. If you have ever worked with acrylics, you know how forgiving this medium is and how easy it is to work on any surface. However, it may cause some troubles as the paints dry fast, and some people struggle with color application and mixing. In our classes, I will show how to overcome the inevitable “ugly stages” of painting, walk through some essential techniques, and explain the main principles of creating great color combinations. You will see how your brushwork will improve.

We’ll discover different ways to work with watercolor paints in the Weekend Watercolor class. Watercolors are considered one of the most challenging mediums – but you won’t be scared of them anymore as you practice and learn specific techniques. We’ll explore wet-on-dry and wet-on-wet methods, learn to use masking, and discover many more ways to create beautiful compositions. You’ll find your way to paint with loose or more academic watercolors and have fun with it.

The online classes are delivered via Zoom. I will show instructional demonstrations, and students will work on their projects and master their skills. I will review the work in real time during the class, and students will later submit pictures of their work to get feedback.
These classes are for adults and teens 14 years and older. Children 12+ can sign up together with an adult. Families are welcome to sign up (discounts will apply).
