Values and Tone. Creating values with hatching techniques.

In this lesson, we’ll explore the value (tonal) scale and the art of crafting values with pencils. We will focus on hatching techniques to bring shades and tones to shapes.

For the creative project, you’ll need less smudgy and more precise material such as regular graphite pencils, which can be any grade of softness at this moment – you will explore that quality of graphite pencils later. As to the paper, any type of drawing paper will work.
